About Us

STANLEY SmallCraft started as a business in 1994.
We are a small, family run business.
Paul, designs our boats but also, repairs, restores and builds them including other designs.
He has been around boats for about 45 years sometimes working on them and sailing them but mostly repairing, restoring and building them. He has a passion for smaller, more traditional looking boats.
He runs the workshop dinghy and canoe building courses so you can normally find him in the workshops building or tinkering with something boat shaped.

Sarah, his long suffering wife, puts up with him leaving wood dust about the house when he gets home plus helps out with the admin, orders and website.
His two eldest, a son and a daughter also help out with small jobs and keeping the workshop tidy. His daughter has ambitions to take over the business one day.

There is also the "Crew", a few others who we can call on from time to time to help out with the courses and builds etc.

Paul also has a great interest and is a patron of a charity project in Stevenage, Herts.
Turn the Tide is a project that takes kids from schools and other projects for a few hours one day a week or perhaps more and takes them through the building of a small canoe. The school, project or sometimes the kids get to keep the canoe.
TtT also run canoe building courses for anyone at reasonable prices.
